A duty owed to the people around you and a gift given in return for showing up.
In ancient Rome, a munus was both at once.
In your household, it still is.
They open it and see their day laid out: what's expected, what's optional, and how much of the afternoon is theirs if they knock it out now. Responsibilities are placed first — non-negotiable. Everything else, they arrange themselves.
An editable timeline they own. Munus never schedules over practice, and leaves an hour to breathe after they get home.
Responsibilities are the deal. Munera are optional and earn real value toward something they picked themselves.
What's left over is theirs, without negotiation. The free time isn't a feature — it's the whole point.
A teen can't meet a standard nobody made visible. A clean room to them isn't a clean room to you — so Munus makes you say what done means, once, and then stops the argument forever.
The restraint is the product. Every one of these was a decision, and none of them are up for negotiation.
No tracking. No location, no browsing, no reading their messages. Ever.
No streaks or badges. Nothing engineered to make a kid feel bad for stopping.
No parent override. A completed munus stays completed. Done means done.
Photos verify, then vanish. Capture-only, and deleted once you've seen them.
No writing to their calendar. You propose. They accept. Their time is theirs.
The contract runs both ways. When your teen earns it, you owe it.
No per-child pricing. No add-ons per teen. A family is a household — you pay for a household.
14-day free trial. Cancel anytime. One subscription covers every parent and teen in the household.
Munus is built by NOMOS Industries. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we will never do. It is written to be read, not to protect us.
Photos are captured in the app only — Munus cannot access your photo library. When a teen completes a task with a photo, it is stored encrypted and shown to the parent. The parent then deletes it (the default) or keeps it. Any photo not viewed within 14 days is deleted automatically. The record that the task was completed is permanent; the image is not.
Only members of your household. Data is protected by row-level security — no other household, and no unauthorized process, can read it. We do not sell, license, or share personal data with anyone, for any purpose, including advertising.
Munus is intended for teens aged 13 and older, and their parents. Teen accounts are created within a household by a parent. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
You can delete your account from within the app at any time. Deleting a household permanently removes its members, tasks, completions, and stored photos from our systems.
We use Supabase (data storage), Apple (payments and push notifications), RevenueCat (subscription management), Sentry (crash reporting), and PostHog (anonymous analytics). Each processes data only to make the app function.
If this policy changes materially, we will tell you in the app before the change takes effect.

Munus is small and new. If something is broken, confusing, or missing, write to us and a human — usually the founder — will answer.

We aim to reply within one business day.
Can I use Munus with more than one teen?
Yes. One subscription covers every parent and teen in your household, at no extra cost.
Can I undo a completed task?
No — and that's deliberate. Done means done. Munus never lets a parent reverse a completion, because a contract that one side can undo isn't a contract. If a standard wasn't met, change the verification mode for next time.
What if my teen won't use it?
Munus works best when it's introduced as an agreement, not a punishment. Sit down together, set the responsibilities as a household, and let them see what they get back. If it's imposed, it will be resisted — like anything else.
Does Munus track my child?
No. No location, no messages, no browsing. Munus is not a surveillance product and never will be.
How do I cancel?
Through your Apple ID subscription settings. Your data stays available until the end of your billing period, and you can delete your account from within the app at any time.
I'm a founding member — what does "locked for life" mean?
Your $79/year rate never increases for as long as you stay continuously subscribed, and it includes everything we add to the household OS. (The School tier, which has real per-month costs to run, is priced separately at a founding rate.)
